Chernobyl
The year 2016 marked the 30th anniversary of the world's worst nuclear disaster to date.
The reactor site, the city of Pripyat and surrounding villages were evacuated, and many thousands of people were forcibly displaced from the fallout zone, never to return.
Many of the places where people lived and worked have been left much as they were, some are sealed for safety, others have been looted and vandalised, but all of them show the scars of thirty years of neglect. The pictures hint at the past, present and future of a site that was once such an important part of the Soviet industrial machine. The appropriate themes of decay and entropy run through the set, but despite this there's still a gentle glow of optimism for the future.
Prints from this set are limited to 10.
